Tara and Ernie’s La Jolla Beach wedding was picture perfect! Tara and Ernie decided, last minute, to bring me all the way out from Phoenix, AZ to be their official wedding photographer for their intimate wedding at La Jolla Beach. It’s official, I am THRILLED that I had the opportunity to spend such an amazing day with these two and their closest family.
The day started off with Tara and her sister getting a little hair and makeup done at Naturale Beauty Bar right in downtown La Jolla. We had the entire place to ourselves, which gave these two sisters the perfect opportunity to bond over a few glasses of champagne. After the beautification process we went back to Scripps Inn where Ernie was waiting for us. It was a fairly humid day for the La Jolla/San Diego area and not having air conditioning in the hotel room was presenting challenges of its own. But everyone really made the best of it and it gave us all something to laugh about as we were sweating together.
Tara and Ernie chose to get ready in the same hotel room, which is something that I absolutely love when it comes to stomping the typical wedding traditions. We did a quick first look on the bluffs overlooking the ocean right across the street from their hotel followed by a fun little moscow mule toast back in the room before the ceremony started. The ceremony was intimate and had some very sweet elements, which included Tara placing a large sunflower on a chair in memory of her dad. The breeze had finally kicked in, which made their ceremony weather absolutely perfect!
What would a beach wedding in La Jolla be without a super cool historic car for some extra special photo ops? Well, I will tell you. It would be way less cool! We got some awesome shots of these two “owning” this sporty convertible, which I absolutely love! They hopped in the car and were chauffeured to The Herringbone Restaurant for a family style dinner with all of their guests. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day. I was so glad to be a part of this La Jolla wedding with Tara and Ernie and a huge shout out to my awesome second shooter/assistant for the day, Mallory!
Enjoy – Robin
